My big Descent 2 skylight screen (which I needed a break from) inspired some great ideas. Sigma turned me on to the idea of embroidering clothes so I decided that my first attempt would feature a dear old friend.

Given the choice I would have used a clearer image too Goznik. The resolution is a function of the cross-stitch process. Each pixel is a hand-stitched X and the canvas grid is 14 Xs per inch. I had to use Photoshop to reduce the resolution to 14dpi and set the size to something that wouldn’t be huge on a shirt. I think the original image was about 600 pixels across but the shirt could only fit about 160. I also had to reduce the number of colors. For this project I managed to get it down to 2 for simplicity’s sake. the window screen is using 12.

As for your inquiry Vision, I’d be willing to make another but I don’t think you want to pay what it would cost. I do these things for myself because they are so much work that I can’t charge even a fraction of what they’re worth. This shirt took at least 50 hours to do. the other project is going to end up in the multiple hundreds of hours.

Sorry I didn’t read at first and only looked at the picture.
Didn’t realize it was actually embroidered, great job!

    Thanks! 🙂

I’m considering adding text to the back. What do you all think of something like this?

I was wondering about that, but then almost did the exact same thing when quoting this 😛
