Just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who came and contributed and voted and commented here. Reddit became the #1 referring site for the Kickstarter for us because of you guys! I’ll leave this sticky for a week or so, then let it fall into the rest of the forum, so everyone can admire what an amazing job you all did! We could NOT have done this without your support!!!
These are the “big” places we need your support on. Just upvote stuff, say nice things, etc. Keep it civil, answer questions, and generally just help others hear about Overload. If there are doubters, just ask them to please try the Playable Teaser:
(brand new, not sure if it’ll pass muster)
r/Games (48 hour notice):
Rock Paper Shotgun:
(new thread on 3/7 about the playable teaser)
(old thread – only if you have an account, don’t sign up just to respond)
(I think you guys already covered this one, very high in GamingNews)
(cynical crowd, wary of any positive comments)
If you find more, please link them, and if they’re significant, I’ll add them to the list.
Edit: Added Eurogamer
Edit2: Added PC Invasion
Edit4: New NeoGaf, Steam, and BluesNews (and r/GamingNews)
Edit5: Added LazyGamer
Edit6: Added RPS
Edit7: Add r/Oculus and new r/Games
Edit8: Add r/Gaming and r/pcgamingMarch 7, 2016 at 4:49 pm #2397bemosaKickstarter BackerTopics: 39

My whole day is wrapped up in work and night class, but I’ll try to work on these as soon as I can.March 7, 2016 at 8:32 pm #2414SiriusKickstarter BackerTopics: 9
Steam has a “Free Demos” section in the store – should Overload show up there? I don’t see it there, and it just sort of seems like I should.March 7, 2016 at 8:41 pm #2416evilgenius31Kickstarter BackerTopics: 0
Cool – my reddit post made it! I’m trying to draw attention on other subreddits, but I knew I had a good chance on /r/ps4. 🙂March 7, 2016 at 9:33 pm #2422March 8, 2016 at 10:28 am #2490papersailboatKickstarter BackerTopics: 19

Update: Lee Hutchinson from Ars Technica is looking in to posting a follow-up article!March 8, 2016 at 5:15 pm #2550CDN_MerlinKickstarter BackerTopics: 15
You should contact IGN. They are a big siteMarch 8, 2016 at 6:43 pm #2561papersailboatKickstarter BackerTopics: 19
Already done.. emailed Kiersten Slader with the following:
Some months ago you helped Descent: Underground make its kickstarter goal with your coverage, and I am very grateful for this. The team who made the original Descent games is back together and trying to make their own Descent game called Overload. Sadly they haven’t had nearly the success the Descent: Underground team had, despite being the original ‘dream team’. There’s a playable teaser (unprecedented for most Kickstarters) and three days to go. This would be a great time to show your support. I love IGN and your support would mean the world to me as a reader.

I think they’re trolling. It’s like if some company licensed “Half Life” and made “Half Life 3”, then Gabe Newell and Valve announced they’re making a successor to Half Life as well, and everyone was like “Gabe and Valve are just me-too clones!” That’s ridiculous, you can’t be a me-too clone when the creation and idea was yours from the beginning.
The game that isn’t from the original creators may be good, but it’s not going to be the game that really knows its roots. Look at Fallout. Fallout 3 was good, but it was extremely noticeable that it was made by a different company than the Fallout 1 and 2 most of us grew up on.March 8, 2016 at 9:12 pm #2611
Yeah, I guess so (trolling)… I do not know, I usually avoid posting like the plague because I just do not understand people sometimes. It just seems so shallow.
It is like… I cannot think of a good analogy — it’s like if chicken & waffles disappeared for 20 years, and you suddenly encountered an iHop in some cave; so you start screaming that this thing exists — and everyone else looks at you like you are crazy, we have been eating rocks for 20 years, rocks are awesome.
I guess, I do not know, it is being complacent. I could get another job, but, I am lazy… or whatever…
Sorry, I guess that is a bit much.March 8, 2016 at 11:13 pm #2628
Ok, back on topic. I added some more comments on the sites listed above. I am not sure how much promoting that we can do at this point, although, keep checking the comments to see if anyone needs backing-up or if there is some issue to address.March 8, 2016 at 11:46 pm #2631
