Please share your current control settings. I think this could be helpful to pilots.

Please stick to a similar format.

    Setup: Mouse & Keyboard
    DPI: 1150
    Mouse Limiting: Strong
    Mouse Smoothing: OFF
    Mouse Rolling: Strong
    Sensitivity: 21
    Turn Rate: +4

    Auto Leveling: OFF
    Aim Assist: OFF
    Movement Speed Config: Tri-Chord

Comments: I am finding this configuration to be highly maneuverable while still being able to maintain control of aim.

Recently changed mice from an old wheel mouse optical 1.1a to a Zowie FK2 — not much has changed but a few tweaks were made to compensate.

    Setup: Mouse and Keyboard
    DPI: 800, formerly 400
    Mouse Limiting: None
    Mouse Smoothing: Off
Mouse Rolling: Off, have used Weak in the distant past
    Sensitivity: 36, formerly 87
    Turn Rate: +3

    Auto-Leveling: Off
    Aim Assist: Off
    Movement Speed Config: Hybrid

Comments: ‘Snappy’ is the one word I’d describe this with. Great for flyby secondaries and covering angles quickly. Quick snaps can sometimes require correction and lead to overcorrection because of turn momentum. Some engagements can look artificial, especially with quick aim motion on a target. Excellent for work with anything covering distance quickly — driller, crusher, cyclone, and every secondary. Would probably be a lot better for Fusion/Thunderbolt if I didn’t have slide up/down on the left and right mouse buttons. A side button is mapped to primary fire but I’m hardly practiced on it.

Setup: Mouse & Keyboard + footboard
    DPI: 1200-1600
    Mouse Limiting: Strong
    Mouse Smoothing: OFF
    Mouse Rolling: weak
    Sensitivity: 20/20
Turn Rate: +4 Don’t think this applies to mouse though?

    Auto Leveling: OFF
    Aim Assist: OFF
    Movement Speed Config: Tri-Chord

Comments: Switch between 1200 and 1600 dpi depending on weapon/situation (1600 is good for dogfights because it allows me to do more turning with less desk space, 1200 for more precision and control).
My mousing is actually pretty weak, I seem to lack the motor control to keep it steady or aim properly at high turn speeds. One of the big reasons I prefer Descent’s limited turn rates compared to other first person shooters and play overload with mouse limiting on strong. I do much of my aiming with roll and strafing.

    Setup: Mouse & Keyboard
    DPI: 1500
    Windows mouse pointer sensitivity: 3/11
    Mouse Limiting: Normal
    Mouse Smoothing: OFF
    Mouse Rolling: Weak
    Sensitivity: 9 both Y and X
    Turn Rate: normal

    Auto Leveling: OFF
    Aim Assist: OFF
    Movement Speed Config: Tri-Chord

Comments: I find that this configuration gives me quite a bit of precision when aiming, but since it’s normal mouse limiting, also allows me to turn very fast should the need arise.

    Mouse Limiting: Off
    Mouse Smoothing: OFF

    Auto Leveling: OFF
    Aim Assist: OFF

Comments: This is what I find most comfortable/practical to use in Overload as far as keyboard and mouse goes. I just recently switched mouse limiting to off (~past 2-3 weeks), before that I had used normal for around 100 hours. It allows me to be quick and accurate, but lets be honest, anyone who’s seen my videos can tell you I’m not very accurate lol. It just feels so good.
    …………………………..
    Setup: Dual Joystick (T.16000m)
    Sensitivity Curves: T.A.R.G.E.T software
Axis Sensitivity (in game): Normal (for all)
    Axis Deadzone: Off (for all)
Joystick Turn Speed: -1 or Normal depending on accuracy at the time.
    Joystick Roll Speed +2

    Auto Leveling: OFF
    Aim Assist: OFF
    Movement Speed Config: Tri-Chord

Comments: I’ve not been flying as much dual joy recently, as my shoulder has been giving me some issues but I find the above settings a joy to fly with. For me, getting those sensitivity curves set up in Target was absolutely vital (I’m new to joysticks ~a year experience). This is how I am going to play through the campaign and in some multiplayer. I will primarily play MP with m+kb, but when I just purely want to have fun, dual joys are what will fill that role.

Chillybus move the slide up-down to your left foot. I’m B-team; foot buttons helps reduce hunt and peck for me.

    Setup: Dual Joystick
Model: Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro (using Grendel adapters with one stick modded for left hand)

    Sensitivity: Normal
    Deadzone: Medium
    Joystick Turn Speed: Normal
    Joystick Roll Speed: Normal

    Auto Leveling: OFF
    Aim Assist: OFF
    Movement Speed Config: Tri-Chord

Comments: This configuration gives me the best flight I’ve ever experienced in a 6dof game. The sticks with their short throw and optical sensors feel accurate and highly responsive. Having my rotation speed at normal is the fastest I can manage while being able to aim.

The following setup is working really well for to have a balance of maneuverability and aim. I have to say that having the Y axis speed faster than the X speed axis is allowing me to adjust quicker for the way I fly.

I have about 4 hours of time with this configuration and I feel like I might do some more minor adjustments if I can get a detailed description of what some of the settings do exactly versus me doing trial and error. For now, I am flying pretty good and I am happy with my improved accuracy during slide maneuvers.

What is the turn speed you guys are posting? Is that referring to the Joystick/KB Turn speed settings under Control Options Advanced? I don’t see a turn speed modifier for the mouse specifically.

    Happy Flying!

    Update Notes for 2.0
After spending a lot of time trying to find my own settings, I went back to the basics and simplified everything, which has helped me a lot. Also gathered data from other players to hear what they felt was working good. You will see this is a much easier implementation that allows me to adjust the dpi on my mouse to give me finer control for certain ship builds (lower dpi) or faster turn radius using less mouse pad (higher dpi). I also matched my roll speed to my slide speed so I can execute barrel rolls (hold slide left and rotate right or slide right and rotate left). This is a great maneuver for maps that have open areas (Backfire / Syrinx etc).
