Probably not. The level structure in overload is deformed cube based like the first two descents. Folks in the level editing area on discord have been able to port from d1 and d1 with special scripts. One person did remake a d3 mp level, but as a scratch recreation via cube geometry rather than a direct port.
Glad you liked the DLC. I, too, very much enjoyed the community levels (though I did not contribute for that project)!
Keep an eye out for another DLC to hit end of Q1 next year, as a second level contest is going on to take entries for even more SP and CM content! Several of us (me included) are submitting entire multi-level campaigns, so you’ll have lots of fresh bot-busting at your hands soon enough!
Not sure about that one in particular, but most older levels from the D1/2 age have been held off. The biggest reason is that the size and speed of the Overload ship and weapons are different, and many classic D1 levels are specifically designed with those sizes and speeds in mind. A direct port, therefore, might not be the cats pajamas when played in overload. Thus, some of the authors have indicated their desire to avoid direct ports in favor of new ideas which fully jive with the gameplay elements of the new game.
However, that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t still try it out and see what happens. If you check out the level editor channels in the Overload discord, someone just redid Logic and I think a group even tried it out in MP a few days ago. Not sure how successful it was, but go check it out if you like!
Not to mention those channels have many other new MP map ideas published by our talented community.
Check out the second post in this thread. I’ve compile the series into a book form for easier viewing. Enjoy!
Further, you can disable the automated switching in the options, and stick with the specific keys or quick wheel select like yoshimitsu said.
Behold, the comic series has come to a close! 100 episodes of overload funnies is all I have. Please enjoy! The original post has links to every one individually.
Good news, word from the devs is Xbox version coming out literally any day. It’s in for final approvals before they “flip the switch” to live. Good luck! (probably have to buy separately unless you got it via the Kickstarter rewards)
Scanning the board, I happened across this which I didn’t look at before. Nice animation!
Funny you mention an Overload cartoon, defconx. If you’ve not seen it already, I’ve got a post here about my Overload comic strip. It’s nearly to 100 episodes and definitely treats the operators as cartoon characters (though visually via screenshots).November 2, 2018 at 10:39 pm in reply to: More Lights – Descent Community Album ][ release thread! #18960
Took a listen through today, and I’m impressed at the quality of all the artists. Some neat pieces, and all fitting some some setting in Descent or another. Thanks for sharing!
Hey, there’s been a release of support for Lan games which can now run even custom maps. There’s a large section of the community using services like Hamachi to do virtual Lan games for online multiplayer in custom designed maps. It’s pretty neat!
Nice! I, too, beat him too quickly on the lower difficulties. I much more appreciated his teeth once I tried him on Ace and found out he does in fact shoot volleys of devastators your way!
Updated comic archive here to date at #52. See original post. Happy chuckling!
I openly credit AngryPeas for inspiration in making game-themed comics. I enjoyed reading the ones from the Descendant community, and thought that I could similarly add some humor to this community. It’s been a blast to create all these, and I still have many waiting in the wings over the coming weeks.
Many thanks to Peas for blazing the trail, and to my readers for your positive feedback which helps me maintain a drive to continue content!
I appreciate the encouragement. I have over 40 written so far, and nearly that many created. Pacing will be key to keeping it going, as I’m just a little too excited to release one per day. Thanks for chiming in!
The entire series has been assembled into a comic book format for easier viewing. As long as it stays for non-commercial purposes, we have Revival’s permission to even print physical copies in book form.
