I couldn’t care less for Star Citizen. Bring on a FreeSpace successor!!!
No, but possibly this weekend I’ll have the time to dig up my MS SideWinder Precision 2 and see how it works with a mouse.
6DoF controller in left hand for gross movement/navigation, mouse in right for fine aiming/firing weapons.
Awesome, please let Luke know we appreciate his efforts. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to play Overload with a 6DoF controller soon.
Any idea if we can use a mouse at the same time? That’s how I want to play: 6DoF controller in left hand, mouse in right.
Thanks PyroJocky, I appreciate the info.
Anyone try a SpaceOrb 360 or one of the 3DConnexion 6DoF controllers to see how they work with Overload?
I’m considering one of the following options: picking up Victor Putz’s next adaptor for the SpaceOrb; getting a SpaceBall 5000 USB from eBay and using it with vJoy/Sx2vJoy; buying a Space Navigator and using it with either the KMJ Emulator it comes with or vJoy/Sx2vJoy.
If it plays and feels like FreeSpace as much as Overload plays and feels like D1/D2, then I’ll put down another $250 towards that Kickstarter. Doesn’t need to be the same story, just a story told as well as FreeSpace is.
I absolutely love the single player experience of the FreeSpace series and would be very happy to experience it anew.
Example: I hunted down and destroyed that first Shivan fighter – which took a long time due to it’s shields – and when the debriefing made a point of saying how my actions showed that the Shivans weren’t invincible and boosted morale, I was blown away. I want more of that.
I would like to see all of the weapons and power-ups from D2, with a third tier of weapons added for a total of 30 because why not!
Mega Missiles, Earthshakers, Smart Missiles, Mercury Missiles, Flash Missiles, Guided Missiles, Plasma Cannons, Omega Cannons, Super Lasers, Ammo Racks, Energy To Shield Converters – bring it all back, it was awesome. Don’t really care what the third tier consists of, because I know you guys would come up with even more awesome stuff.
Part of the reason I backed Overload is the chance that if it is a success, you guys might do another FreeSpace!
